Households warned against common milk habit that's 'costing them money'
The household habit - that involves storing milk in the fridge door - is costing householders a small fortune in wasted money, according to a leading white goods manufacturer
An expert manufacturer has issued a stark warning to everyone who uses their fridge door to store milk.
It's a common practice for households to pop bottles of milk in the fridge door, but kitchen appliance experts at Beko say it's a mistake that could be costing you money due to wasted milk.
To extend the life of your groceries, creating designated zones in your fridge is key. Salah Sun elaborated: "Temperature fluctuates within your fridge, so storing items in the right zones is crucial."
He pointed out that "The bottom shelf, being the coldest, is perfect for raw meats, while the middle shelves maintain ideal conditions for dairy and prepared foods."
He warned that "The door, often used for milk, is actually the warmest area due to frequent opening."
"We recommend keeping more stable items like condiments and drinks in the door compartments, moving milk to the middle shelf where temperatures remain more constant."But it's not just about reducing waste, proper fridge organisation has other benefits too. "When you can see and access everything easily, you're more likely to cook at home and make healthier choices," Salah Sun points out"Plus, maintaining optimal storage conditions means your fresh produce lasts longer, reducing both waste and shopping frequency."
